Mike Seddon appeals for Shakespeare Hospice

Well known local business man Mike Seddon has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and given just weeks to live. In this video he talks openly about his diagnosis and the care he's received from the Shakespeare Hospice, enabling him to die at home. Since his diagnosis Mike has dedicated himself to raising both awareness and funds to ensure the service continues to be there for others in the same situation.  Watch video >>

The Methuen Shakespeare Sculpture

Based on the Cobbe Portrait of William Shakespeare, local artist Judy Methuen has created a 3D bronze sculpture of the Bard. It was officially launched tonight (28/6/2014), at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, but before its public unveiling, Judy talked exclusively to Stratford TV about her vision of Shakespeare as a young man.  Watch video >>

D-Day Veterans honoured

Stratford's D-Day Veterans were honoured at Stratford Town Hall last night (June 6th 2014). At an event organised by Escape Community Arts to launch their new film of the veterans memories of D-Day, Stratford's Mayor, Councillor Ian Fradgley announced that the Town Council is soon to decide on giving them the Freedom of the Town, and with music by The Lady Belles, a surprise presentation was made by the French Consul Honoraire.  Watch video >>

Loxleys' Defibrillator Campaign

Loxleys in Sheep Street have installed a life saving defibrillator in a bright yellow box outside the restaurant. Around 60,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur in the UK every year and when someone goes into cardiac arrest, every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces their chances of survival by 10%. Loxleys are launching a campaign for more businesses in Stratford upon Avon to install them in other areas of the town, to make Stratford one of the safest places to live, work and visit.  Watch video >>

Compton Verney & Fairport Convention

Compton Verney is marking its 10th anniversary this Summer by attempting to break a world record by making the longest ever line of bunting of over 11 km. Fairport Convention contributed their own designs yesterday (May 30th) as they prepare for their Music Festival Cropredy, where they will be inviting festival goers and musicians alike to make their own bunting.  Watch video >>

Leader of SDC and the Conservative Group on their successful night

The May 2014 Local Elections saw the Conservative Group on the District Council gain more seats, winning 15 of the 18 seats that were being contested. Festival of Motoring 2014

May 4th and 5th saw the second Stratford Festival of Motoring with a huge array of rumbling, revving and ticking over engines. Birthplace 3D Light Spectacular

On now, until December 19th, Shakespeare's Birthplace is the home to a spectacular light show. Four times a day and completely free, on Henley Street, it features live actors and amazing projected lights and graphics. Stratford Food Bank

Over two tons of food was collected, over the weekend of 1st and 2nd December, at Tesco Stratford upon Avon for the relaunch of the Stratford Food Bank. Research has shown that over 16% of people in Stratford are below the official poverty line and the Food Bank will work with people in crisis in our town. Tesco have committed to top up all the donations from the weekend by 30% of the value. This video explains more about the project and was filmed on Saturday 1/12/12.
