D-Day Veterans honoured

Stratford's D-Day Veterans were honoured at Stratford Town Hall last night (June 6th 2014). At an event organised by Escape Community Arts to launch their new film of the veterans memories of D-Day, Stratford's Mayor, Councillor Ian Fradgley announced that the Town Council is soon to decide on giving them the Freedom of the Town, and with music by The Lady Belles, a surprise presentation was made by the French Consul Honoraire.

Air Ambulance

The afternoon of Tuesday 16th April saw some unexpected parking on the junction of Rother Street, Wood Street, Windsor Street and Greenhill Street, when the Air Ambulance landed to help ambulance crews and paramedics with a medical emergency. Paramedics brought a man down on a stretcher from the flats above the empty Paperway store on Greenhill Street. He was put into the Air Ambulance and flown to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch. Neither his identity, nor his condition are known at present.  Watch video >>

Zumba takes to the streets for 1Billion Rising

Shakespeare Hospice Santa Run

It was the 12 Laps of Christmas for the inaugural Shakespeare Hospice Santa Run this week with thousands being raised for this important independent local charity, that provides specialist care for families affected by life limiting illness in the Stratford upon Avon district, as well as in South Warwickshire and the North Cotswolds. Stratford Food Bank

Over two tons of food was collected, over the weekend of 1st and 2nd December, at Tesco Stratford upon Avon for the relaunch of the Stratford Food Bank. Research has shown that over 16% of people in Stratford are below the official poverty line and the Food Bank will work with people in crisis in our town. Tesco have committed to top up all the donations from the weekend by 30% of the value. This video explains more about the project and was filmed on Saturday 1/12/12. Paralympic Gold Medalist comes home

Hundreds of people turned out for an open-top bus parade through Stratford-upon-Avon to celebrate the Paralympic gold medal won by rower James Roe. The 24-year-old, who was born in Leamington Spa and now lives in Stratford-upon-Avon, was part of Team GB's winning mixed coxed four crew. Peter Wyatt, who carried the Olympic torch through Henley Street in the town and trialled for the 1948 UK Olympic rowing team and was also on the bus, said Roe was a "star". The Big Fish helps the heroes
